how scoring works

scoring.

each round is worth up to 5,000 points. with five rounds per puzzle, the maximum total is 25,000 points.

score is calculated using the great-circle distance between your pin and the answer — the shortest path along the earth's surface. the closer you are, the more points you earn, on a logarithmic curve. being 10 km off hurts much less than being 1,000 km off.

anti-cheat

all scoring happens on the server. your pin coordinates are sent to the backend, which computes the distance and score and returns them — the client never calculates or stores answers. this means you can't manipulate your score by inspecting network traffic.
